FINANCIAL FIT TIP - Credit Repair
Your credit score can impact our life in a mighty way. So it is important to have a good credit
score. That means having a score greater than 720.
Here are some tips to help increase your credit score:
>If you haven't already done so, look at your credit report. Annualcreditreport.com is a free service. Just pick on of the 3 credit bureaus for now. Take a close look at the information. Is it correct? If not, write each credit bureau; Equifax, Transunion & Experian and dispute any errors. The credit bureau MUST investigate, respond and provide a free report of the corrections.
> Pay on time, pay on time, pay on time. At least pay the minimum due.
> Reduce balances. Goal is to pay down all balances to less than 30% of your credit limit for each credit card and overall.
> Eliminate all collections. If you have any outstanding collections, negotiate to have the "settled as agreed" with the creditor. Make sure the creditor reports the settlement with all 3 bureaus.
> If you do not have credit, start with a department store or gas card. They usually are easy to get. Then only charge the minimum; buy a pack of gum and then pay the bill as soon as it comes in.
